Getting to Warsaw

There are two airports in Warsaw.

The Warsaw Chopin Airport is situated 10 km from the city center. There are several means of transport from the airport to downtown Warsaw.

Train: Airport and the Warsaw city center are connected by Fast Urban Railway.

  • The train S2 line goes via Warszawa Śródmieście station
  • The train S3 line goes via Warszawa Centralna sation

Bus: Bus lines no. 175 and 188 run from Chopin Airport to the city center. The journey takes about 40 minutes.

The schedule for the trains and buses can be found here.

Taxi: The taxi fare from the airport to the city center costs approximately PLN 40. For safety reasons it is advised to use licensed taxi services offered at the Chopin Airport. Please check the price of the taxi which should be placed on the door window (normal price for a taxi is 2.40 PLN per km).

The Modlin Airport is situated 40 km from the city center. To the city you can either get by train or with a shuttle bus. We strongly discourage you to take a taxi.

Public communication system in Warsaw

Due to numerous construction works in the city center the traffic is high during the day. That is why we recommend you to travel by metro or by tram within the city. Travelling by bus is usually not convenient.

Public transport tickets can be purchased at each metro station. Most trams do not have vending machines, but you may buy tickets in newspaper kiosks. Tickets are valid in all communication means and include single ride tickets and temporary tickets (20 minutes, 40 minutes, 1 day, 3 days, 1 week).

Currency

The Polish currency is Złoty (PLN). Please note that Euro is not accepted for payments.

Please check the currency converter.
